Current era is known as the digital world, which results in rapid increase of data. It is known that, most percentage of rise took place in last ten years. Due to this, the massive space had been required to store these information. In order to save large amount of data, large databases are required. But, to deal with the objective of availability the cloud computing came into existence.
Cloud computing provides the base for running Electronic commerce (commonly known as e-commerce) industry. Modern day society have a great boom of e-commerce. The book written by John Markoff in 2009 said that the E-commerce came into existence in early last decade of 19th century. The concept of E-commerce was setup for business transactions.
According to an article in 2011 written by Colin Grey and Salvatore Zappala, Brazil is one of the fastest growing economies in Latin America. However, the China is seemed to emerge as biggest player in e-commerce market in last few years as it has estimated of 329 million of e-shoppers all over the world.
According to “Vizisense”, which is a report on e-commerce written in 2012 states that the boom of e-commerce is result of following factors such as:
1) It provides users to shop at any time
2) There is a large reduction in the operational cost since, there is fall in number of physical stores.
3) It is very easy for consumers to compare the rates on different websites before actually buying a product.
4) Customers can now trust to shop online, due to the secure, safe and fast transactions.
5) Same as consumers, now the merchants also have access to global market.
6) Now the business can even take place on social media as there is currently a great trend of it.
According to Michael J. Shaw, the modern era comprise of digital things and activities. These services has become so important that it has traveled in all direction and touching every aspects of a global market resulting in increase of digital economy. Amazon, eBay etc. have set the new icon of economy. Consumers on large scales uses these services very frequently. According to the survey held in EU on firm in 2008, the online sales where comparatively very high and tend to increase drastically in coming decade.
With the rise in E-commerce there are several concerns like security in transactions, privacy of users etc. as there data are stored in the cloud. According to the article written by Michael Quayle, The Japanese finds internet as unreliable hence instead of using debit cards to perform transactions they prefer to add the bill in monthly account.
Cloud computing has completely changed the face of technology, it has lots of applications which could harness the increase in need of business, cloud computing is the apt solution for our growing need of storage requirements in e-commerce, online banking and everything which deals with large amount of data.
Cloud computing has provided a practical solution for our growing “Big” data world. But, cloud computing still has some major concerns like security, data storage methods scalability issues and privacy for clouds. However, according book by Meixia Milao in December 2015, there is a new emerging challenge i.e. deduplication of sensitive data. Before storing the data in the cloud this technique performs encryption and avoid identical copies of same data. This is very useful in improving utilization of space and reduce the bytes when transferring data. Currently, the sensitive data is prone to attack by outsider or insider and faces the issues such as compatibility.
